As a artist I feel we are blessed by senses. we can sense some things from world around us. We are living in such era where everything is changes within few seconds. We are truly living 'CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT" phrase. While we are heading towards the virtual world, we are loosing connection with ourselves. We are behaving like robots. no doubt robots are going to take away all of our jobs. but till then we are turning into robots. Working more than 9 hrs, spending rest of the time on social media. even while are taking break from daily routine and traveling. There is constant peer pressure on us that we have to post stories or photos or what is happening around us. There is a secret rat race going around social media. No doubt we are connected to each other globally. We are getting paid from miles away just by posting picture. but do you remember when was the last time you sat down with no phone or technology around and just relaxing or feeling natural things around us like wind, smell of soil, sunrise, sunset? What was the last time you wrote a letter to yourself? YES LETTER TO YOURSELF... have you written letters to your closed once in these few years? Let me tell you the ans NO you haven't. Because we are connected to each other via many social media platform. but these platforms are tearing us apart from each other emotionally. We are loosing emotional connection. The essence of letter. and pure joy when you received it.
After covid-19 I realized that being artist doesn't mean you have to create your art for social media or to struggle for being relevant for social media's audience. In the period of lockdown I got so frustrated with these platforms and the logic less trend that were going on. so I decided to turn it off for sometimes. Let's be honest maybe only for 3-7 days. but those 3 days after i turned of my social media platforms including WhatsApp turned about to be the best days in few years. and those 3 days turned into more than 5-6 months. I have written poems, painted a lot, explored watercolors, meditated. In that period I have developed my skills and became closer to myself and happier than ever before.
So is it compulsory to have detox? 9 into 10 people says social media doesn't affect us. But do you have FOMO? do you go through ANXIETY? do you feel Consciousness? are you truly living your #YOLO? You feel that social media doesn't affect you because you are made to feel that way. no-one wants talk about their anxiety, depression, panic attacks, self doubts, suicide thoughts. because social media taught us to only share your happy moments, best achievements, and perfect life. Not your failure but IMPERFECTION IS THE BEAUTIFUL THING IN LIFE. After having social media detox world completely changes for you. you feel truly alive. and I am not the only one who are saying this. but there are lot of people I have came across told me about their experience. the amount of time you spend with yourself with no phone around is the key to your happiness. IT'S OK if you don't post a picture, it's ok if you are not clicking picture of your breakfast, lunch, dinner. It doesn't matter if you live in lavish bungalow or in a tiny house . Having connect with yourself and knowing what you truly want that's all matters. AT THE END OF THE DAY WE ARE THERE FOR OURSELVES NOT SOCIAL MEDIA. SO BE AWARE. KNOW YOUR FEELING, AND TAKE A BREAK FROM SOCIAL MEDIA. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE TOWARDS YOURSELF AND THE WAY YOU LOOK AROUND.
